Give me 5
Give Me 5 is an early intervention platform that helps schools and organizations prevent mental health crises by combining student responses, adult observations, and behavioral patterns. Initially limited to Australia, Canada, and the US, we transformed it into a global product by reimagining its brand, developing a design system, and redesigning the core experience. Classroom research revealed engagement barriers, leading to a student experience overhaul that boosted completion rates. We then localized the platform for Singapore, the Philippines, Brazil, and India, adding support for Portuguese, Hindi, and Filipino. Expanding beyond B2B, we designed and launched a standalone app for families, expanding Give Me 5 to B2C. The result: a scalable, accessible platform with high engagement, helping prevent mental health crises worldwide.

Brand & Design System
The first challenge was overcoming brand and interface inconsistencies that limited Give Me 5’s scalability. Through a design audit, I uncovered fragmented user experiences and a lack of systematic design thinking, which made global expansion difficult. To address this, I prioritized consolidating their design system before scaling. I focused the teams efforts on creating a unified visual language that adapts across cultures while maintaining clinical credibility. Key efforts included developing a component library for right-to-left languages, setting accessibility standards for students and professionals, and creating clear documentation for consistency. This approach set the stage for seamless expansion while keeping the platform intuitive and trustworthy.
Website Redesign
Give Me 5's existing website was failing to articulate their unique value in mental health crisis prevention. After I analysed user journeys for both school administrators and mental health professionals, I shifted focus to showcasing the platform's triangulated data approach and proven results. I lead the redesign of the website to streamline the path from discovery to implementation, leading to increased platform adoption across new markets.
Homepage redesign emphasizing emotional connection through welcoming visuals and clear value proposition.
Tasteful visuals addressing serious mental health issues responsibly.
Product Experience Redesign
Low student survey completion rates signaled a critical UX challenge. I led an in-classroom research across multiple schools that revealed students found the check-in process clinical and disconnected. I led the redesign of the experience to introduce more engaging interactions and clearer progress indicators, while preserving the platform's clinical validity. This resulted in a significant increase in regular student check-ins and more accurate early warning detection.
Global Expansion
Global expansion presented a unique challenge: mental health expressions vary significantly across cultures. Leading localization efforts in Singapore, the Philippines, Brazil, and India required deep collaboration with local mental health experts to adapt survey questions and risk indicators. Beyond language translation to Portuguese, Hindi, and Filipino, the platform was refined to reflect cultural nuances in each market, resulting in high adoption rates across new regions.
The B2C play
User insights revealed an opportunity to extend Give Me 5's impact beyond schools. The challenge was adapting a clinical, institution-focused platform for family use. Reimagining the triangulated data approach for home settings, the new B2C app simplified mental health monitoring while maintaining clinical reliability. Early adoption showed strong engagement from families seeking proactive mental health support.
